LUCY DOYLE ART

Oliver Cromwell, was not a man to be deterred. During the siege of Waterford in 1649 he determined to take Ireland's oldest city by Hook Lighthouse on the one side of the Waterford Estuary or by Crook, a village on the opposite side. Living in Dunmore East I can see Hook Lighthouse from my porch and recently determined to take the train from Waterford to Dublin to attend the opening of my favourite Irish artist, Lucy Doyle’s exhibition in Dublin. I had visions of myself relaxing, magazine in hand, as depicted in Lucy’s painting, ‘Returning Home’.

This however, was NOT to be my fate.
